Dirk Owen CRAMBLIT

Dirk Owen CRAMBLIT, 59, of Agency and formerly of Davenport, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, at the Davis & Wapello Counties Hospice House in Ottumwa.

As per his wishes, the body has been cremated.

A celebration of life is set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church in Ottunwa, with the Rev. Mel Kendall officiating.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Mr. CRAMBLIT's name for a horticulture scholarship through Indian Hills Community College Foundation Department. Cards and memorials can be sent to PO Box 322, Agency 52530. Condolences can be made online at behnerfh.com.

Behner Funeral Home & Crematory in Fairfield is handling the arrangements.

Mr. CRAMBLIT was born March 23, 1955, in Ottumwa, the son of Jerry and Marilyn OWEN CRAMBLIT. He married Koni BOLES Aug. 30, 1980. He married Debra MAYER Aug. 10, 2002.

Mr. CRAMBLIT graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1973 then studied skilled trades at Indian Hills Jr. College.

He worked as a machinist at John Deere in Ottumwa and Davenport for 18.5 years before moving back to Ottumwa to graduate with a two-year degree in horticulture from Indian Hills Community College in 1999.

Mr. CRAMBLIT loved flowers, nature, animals, camping and floating in a canoe or kayak down the river.

Survivors include: Debra CRAMBLIT of Agency; one son, Chase CRAMBLIT and wife Dana of Springville; one granddaughter; his mother, Marilyn CRAMBLIT of Ottumwa; and two siblings, Mark CRAMBLIT of Ottumwa and Marilee OVERTURF of Drakesville.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry CRAMBLIT, and youngest brother, Michael CRAMBLIT.
