Robert Eugene KIENTZ

Robert Eugene KIENTZ, 91, of rural Brighton, died Saturday afternoon, Aug. 30, 2014, at Parkview Care Center in Wayland.

The funeral is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Hope Lutheran Church in Germanville, with the Rev. Jordan Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton (note: in Washington Co,. IA).

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton.

Memorials for Hope Lutheran Church or the Iowa Lions Sight and Hearing Conservation Fund can be left at the funeral home, church or mailed to the family at 1493 Willow Blvd., Brighton 52540.

Mr. KIENTZ was born on the family farm near Germanville, April 15, 1923, the son of Lester Christian and Rilla HINKLE KIENTZ. He married Mary Aleatha GUY March 17, 1944, in Iowa City. She died June 20, 1999. He married Wanda COX Aug. 31, 2000, in Washington, Iowa.

Mr. KIENTZ grew up in the area and attended Brighton High School.

He was a lifetime farmer and very active in his church and community. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Germanville, member of the Fairfield Square Dance Club, Rathbun Rural Water board member, Jefferson County Soil Conservation board member and held several offices in the Brighton Lions Club including president.

Survivors include: his wife Wanda of rural Brighton; one daughter Roberta STATLER-MEIEROTTO of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, Larry KIENTZ and his wife Vickie and Tom KIENTZ and his wife Sue, of rural Brighton; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Karen TAGLAUER of Wayland.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mary Aleatha; two sisters, Margaret CRILE and Mary BALDOSIER; one brother, Lester KIENTZ Jr.; and two sons-in-law, Ron STATLER and Gilbert MEIEROTTO.
