Helen J. Hill, 74, of East Moline, Ill., and formerly of Fairfield, died Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at OSF St. Anthony's Hospital in Rockford, Ill.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home in East Moline. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery in Illinois.

Visitation will be held from 3-6 p.m. Sunday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home in East Moline.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Tyler Hill education fund or to the Edward and Helen Hill Memorial scholarship fund.

Mrs. Hill was born Sept. 19, 1929, in Fairfield, the daughter of Glenn and Ella Wilson Grant. She married Edward Hill in 1962 in East Moline. He died Oct. 25, 1991.

A graduate of the University of Iowa and a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority, she was a teacher and counselor at UTHS, retiring in 1962.

Mrs. Hill was an active member of the East Moline Women's Club, serving as president and treasurer. She was a member of the King's Daughters and P.E.O.

Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Hill of Genoa, Ill.; one grandson; and one brother, Richard S. Grant and wife Betty of Sanibel Island, Fla.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Kathy Hill.
