Gary G. GOEHRING, 81, of Keosauqua died at 6:20 a.m. today, Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at his home.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Gary G. GOEHRING

Gary G. GOEHRING, 71, of Keosauqua died at 6:20 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at his home.

The funeral is planned for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Zion Church, southwest of Libertyville, with the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial will be in Fell Cemetery, Libertyville.

Visitation opened at 2 p.m. today at the Roberts Memorial Building in Keosauqua, with family present from 5-7 p.m.

Gifts to a memorial to be designated later by the family can be left at the funeral home, church or mailed to the family at 2634 Clearwood Ave., Libertyville 52567.

Mr. GOEHRING was born July 27, 1943, at Cramlet Farm north of Douds, the son of Lewis Keith and Mabel Evelyn LAUGHLIN GOEHRING. He married Mary HENDRICKS in April 1963. They later divorced.

Mr. GOEHRING grew up between Douds and Libertyville on the family farm. He was very active with livestock, 4-H and FFA earning the American Farmer Degree and serving as a state FFA officer. He lived and farmed in the rural Libertyville community raising dairy cattle, registered Hereford cattle and quarter horses.

He attended Missouri Auction School and began conducting sales. He took the opportunity to purchase the Keosauqua Sale Company in August 1986. After growing the business, he sold his interest to Bill and Becky GOEHRING.

After retiring from the sale barn in 2006, he became involved with raising and training border collies and was a member of Iowa Stock Dog Club and hosted many dog trials on the home farm. He also continued to background feeder cattle.

He was an active member of Mt. Zion Church in rural Libertyville.

Survivors include: one son, Bill GOEHRING and wife Becky of Libertyville; one daughter, Debbie ARMSTRONG and husband Eric of Folsom, New Mexico; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Larry GOEHRING.
