June V. ARGUE PALCHEFF, 88, of Springfield, Missouri, died Tuesday, July 8, 2014, in Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
A funeral was held July 14 in King's Way United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jon Spalding officiating, under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel in Springfield, Illinois. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a children's or community charity of the donor's choice.
Mrs. PALCHEFF was born May 24, 1926, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Joseph Henry and Elise Katherine BIEMAN ARGUE She married Chris L. PALCHEFF June 25, 1950.
She attended St. Louis Public Schools and Miss Hickey's Secretarial School. She worked at the Federal Reserve Bank in St. Louis prior to her marriage.
The PALCHEFFs moved to Springfield in the summer of 1958. She was a dedicated volunteer with many community organizations, including Camp Fire Girls, The Mary E. Wilson Home, Greene County Medical Society Auxiliary, The Medical Museum and Meals on Wheels.
She was an avid reader and loved playing cards and working crossword puzzles.
She was a member of SMMA World Arts Group, King's Way United Methodist Church and two bridge clubs. She loved being a grandmother, and the birth of her great-grandson in March 2013 brought her such joy. She loved her family and friends and was a great listener and was always there to provide love, support and advice.
Survivors include: two daughters, Carol PEARSON and husband Charles of Springfield, Missouri, and Mary WIEMER and husband Randy of Columbia, Missouri; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by: one sister, Velta SMYTHE; one brother, Joe ARGUE; one daughter, Christine Elizabeth PALCHEFF; and her parents.
