Leo N. Adam, 85, of Richland died unexpectedly May 8, 2004, at his home.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church in Richland, with the Rev. Charles Fladung, the Rev. Nick Adam, the Rev. Richard Adam, and the Rev. Charles Adam, concelebrants, officiating. Burial will be in Richland Friends Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at the church with the family present. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m., followed by the Prayers for a Christian Wake.

Memorials have been established to the American Cancer Society, Alzheimers Association, Ronald McDonald House in Iowa City and St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Memorials may be left at the church or mailed to the family at 309 W. College St., Richland 52585.

Gould Funeral Home of Richland is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Adam was born April 20, 1919, in Clear Creek, the son of John V. and Theresa Greiner Adam. He married Isabelle Pacha May 16, 1942, in East Pleasant Plain.

He was reared in the Clear Creek community, attending Clear Creek School. He moved to Richland as a boy and farmed all of his life in the Richland area. He retired in 1998.

A charter member of Mother Cabrini Catholic Church, Mr. Adam held many church offices. He also was a member of the Richland Community Club, Richland Lions Club and the Farm Bureau.

Survivors include his wife; five children, Donna Jones and husband Keith of Chippewa Falls, Wis., John Adam and wife Colleen of Richland, Joy Jurrens and husband Richard of Quincy, Ill., Mary Adam of Kasson, Minn., and Joe Adam and wife Roberta of Richland; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Elmer "Bud" Adam of Richland; and three sisters, Irene Dickinson of Birmingham, Bernice Vogel of Blairstown and Elizabeth Vogel of Hereford, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Philip Adam; one grandson; and one brother, Urban Adam.
