Warren Eugene CONGER's eternal reward was granted Monday, June 30, 2014, in Noblesville, Indiana, where he and his wife Frances had lived since 2005.
He was born September 20, 1924, in rural Hedrick, Iowa, to Carl and Mary BAKER CONGER.
He graduated from Packwood Iowa High School in 1942 and married Frances Lee KENYON March 31, 1946, and farmed with his wife near Packwood until 1983.
They moved to Fairfield, Iowa, where he was a court attendant until his retirement in 2000. He and Frances then moved to Iowa City, Iowa, until 2005 when they moved closer to family located in Indiana.
They are the parents of three daughters: Dianne (Fred) GEORGE of Edmonds, Washington; Mary (Steve) ADAM of Greensburg, Indiana; and Janet (Terry) DERBY of Fairfield, Iowa.
He was predeceased by his parents, daughter Janet DERBY and sisters Margaret DICKEY and Carolyn ELLIS.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Dianne (Fred) GEORGE and Mary (Steve) ADAM, his sister Marilyn SHAW of Florissant, Missouri, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren: Tad (Erin), Darius and Mercedes GEORGE; Bryce (Christen), Morgan, Lauren and Jordan ADAM; Andrew (Danell), Rufus and Otto GEORGE; Aaron (Laurie), Brynn and Mason DERBY; Rachel (Greg), Evan and Simon BERKEMEIER; Nicole DERBY and Jeffrey SILLS; Lindsey (Brandon) REYES; Mark (Chantel) and Clara ADAM; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Packwood, Iowa, and a 50-plus-year member of the Masonic Lodge and a Shriner.
He had a passion for golf, bowling, laughter and never knew a stranger. He loved his wife and family who will miss his presence but always carry him in their minds and hearts.
Visitation will be at Packwood Christian Church in Packwood, Iowa, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 5, with services immediately following with Pastor Frosty Van Vorst (sic - Van Voorst) officiating. Burial will be at Prairie Chapel Cemetery in Packwood, Iowa (note: also known as Prairie Center Cemetery or Packwood Cemetery).
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church.
Arrangements are in the care of the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield, Iowa.
