Stephen Norbert HAMMES

The service for Stephen Norbert HAMMES, 46, of Dallas, Texas, who died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, March 10, 1996, at his home, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. William Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The body was cremated. Prayers for a Christian wake will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home, with the family visitation to follow. Memorials may be made to Masses and a memorial has been established in his name. A memorial service was conducted Wednesday in Dallas.

HAMMES was born Aug. 13, 1949, in Fairfield, the son of Norbert J. and Marie A. GRIENER HAMMES. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1968, from Southeastern Community College in Burlington with an associate arts degree in 1970 and from Northeast State University at Kirksville in 1974 with a bachelor of science degree. He was a computer systems analyst for IBM for 12 years in Kansas City, Mo., and five years in Dallas.

Surviving are his parents of Fairfield; four sisters, Rose BOLLEI of Tiffin, Carol VORHIES of Monticello, Barbara HUGHELL and Mary WEBB, both of Batavia; 16 nieces and nephews.
