May 04, 2004Daniel Lawrence "Barndog" Thomann, 37, of Richland died Sunday, May 2, 2004, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a stroke.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church in Richland, with the Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be in Richland Friends Cemetery.
A celebration of his life will begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church. Rosary will start at 7 p.m., followed by Prayers for a Christian Wake.
Memorials have been established for the church and for the Richland First Responders. Memorials also can be made to the charity of the donors choice. Memorials can be left at the church or mailed to the family at 31704 290th Street, Richland 52585.
Gould Funeral Home of Richland is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Thomann was born March 8, 1967, in Fairfield, the son of E. Lawrence and Alberta Janecek Thomann.
He was reared in the Pekin community and graduated from Pekin High School in 1995.
He was employed as a short-haul semi-truck driver by Hackerts Wood Products of Richland for 13 years and by ABF Freight System Inc. of Fairfield for the past five years.
Mr. Thomann was a member of Mother Cabrini Catholic Church.
He was a hunter and fisherman and a collector of John Deere collectibles.
Survivors include his mother of Richland and six sisters, Diane Thomann and Evelyn Thomann, both of Ottumwa, Yvonne Thomann of West Des Moines, Pamela Peterson of Burlington, Julie Reed of Iowa City and Chris Thomann of Martinsburg.
His grandparents and his father preceded him in death.
