Rites set for Belle HEDGE

BATAVIA - Belle HEDGE of Batavia died Friday at Jefferson County Hospital. She was 91.

She was born Oct. 19, 1896 in Wapello County near Bladensburg, the daughter of Wallace and Martha PORTER STERNER. She lived her entire life in the Bladensburg and Batavia communities. HEDGE was a member of the Peoples Church north of Batavia.

She married Russell V. HEDGE Jan. 18, 1919, Ottumwa. He died Feb. 15, 1975. She also was preceded in death by an infant son in 1924. Several nieces and nephews survive.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Campbell Funeral Chapel in Batavia with the Rev. Kermit Black officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Peoples Church or the long-term care unit of Jefferson County Hospital. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
