Ronald Eugene McLeland
May 03, 2004Ronald Eugene McLeland, 82, of Lebanon, Ohio, and formerly of Milton, died Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at Lebanon Country Manor.
The funeral followed visitation April 2 at the Oswald-Hoskins Funeral Home in Lebanon. An Elks Lodge service preceded the funeral. Burial was in Lebanon Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to a charity of the donors choice.
Mr. McLeland was born July 20, 1921, in Milton, the son of Harry and Blanche Gaffney McLeland.
After graduating in 1939 from Stockport High School in Stockport, he served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
He played minor league baseball as a pitcher in the St. Louis Browns and Cleveland Indians organizations until problems with his arm forced him to retire.
After employment in the furniture business throughout the midwest, he owned and operated Village Furniture in Lebanon for 26 years before retiring in 1996.
A member of the Lebanon Methodist Church, Lebanon Elks Lodge, VFW Post 6069 and the American Legion, he was an avid golfer.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Louise Bradbury McLeland of Lebanon; one daughter, Jeri Hasselbring of Nashville, Tenn.; one grandson; and two brothers, Carroll McLeland of Bode and Wayne McLeland of Houston, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters, Rhonda and Mildred McLeland.
