Letha Jeannette BROWN

Letha Jeannette BROWN, 72, of Lockridge, died Friday, May 23, 2014, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tom Shipley officiating. Burial will be at Spencer Cemetery, northeast of Stockport (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).

Visitation for family and friends is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Memorials and cards can be sent to: 303 N. Center St., Lockridge 52635.

Mrs. BROWN was born Nov. 17, 1941, the daughter of Harold and P. Opal WILSON CRENSHAW. She married Kenneth BROWN June 25, 1960, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He died Dec. 19, 2002.

She was a lifelong resident of Van Buren and Jefferson counties.

She worked for Fairfield Sale Barn for 20 years, V & J Pigs hog confinement for six years and she helped her husband farm by driving tractors and trucks.

She enjoyed playing bingo and Farmall/International tractors.

She enjoyed all her farm animals.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Batavia.

Survivors include five children, James BROWN and spouse Patty of Fairfield, Joseph BROWN and spouse Karen, and Jeanette NITSCHKE and spouse Randy, all of Batavia, Julie HORTON and spouse Larry, and Jonathan BROWN and spouse Stacie, all of Lockridge; 17 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four stepgreatgrandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Reba CRENSHAW; one great-grandchild; and two step great-grandchildren.
