Phillip J. LAUX

Adored husband, beloved father and grandfather Phillip Joseph LAUX, 62, of Fairfield, Iowa entered into eternal life at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 1998 at Jefferson County Hospital in the arms of his wife, and surrounded by loved ones.

Phillip was born September 27, 1935 in Sigourney, Iowa to Howard and Ellen (MERZ) LAUX. His parents preceded him in death. He married the love of his life, Mary Lou HART on December 29, 1956 in Richland, Iowa. To their union was born six children. They and their spouses are: Dennis and Marsha LAUX of Stockport, Iowa; Kristy and Jerry STORY of Mission, Texas; Becky and Jeff QUICK of Fairfield; Phil and Renee LAUX of Sigourney, Iowa; Shelley and Larry GEVOCK of Ottumwa, Iowa; and Mike and G.G. LAUX of Fairfield.

He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 3 brothers (John of Fairfield, William of Sebring, Florida; and Doug of Cedar Rapids, Iowa), 5 sisters (Deanna LAUX of Belgrade, Montana; Karen ALLEN of Winter Springs, Florida; Mary Lou WIDMER of Tyler, Texas; Barbara SONDAG of Iowa City, Iowa; and Debbie POWELL of Kiln, Mississippi), 4 aunts and uncles and many nieces and nephews.

Phillip graduated from Richland High School in 1953 and served 2 years in Korea with the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He lived in the Fairfield area since 1971 and was founder and C.E.O. of All American Termite and Pest Control, Inc. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, as well as a member of the VFW.

He will be greatly missed by many friends and loved ones. In honor of his passing, visitation will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fairfield at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 15 at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Behner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. A memorial has been established.
