Roland HAYES, 80, passed away suddenly and went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, October 4, 2011 from complications of septic shock. The family would like to welcome all to a memorial celebration of his life 11 a.m., Friday at Grandview Park Funeral Homes, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Rising Sun Cemetery.

Roland was born June 21, 1931 to Stewart and Dorothy HAYES in Jefferson, Iowa. He grew up in Runnells and graduated from Runnells High School. He is a veteran of the Korean War (sic - Korean Conflict) and retired from SuperValu.

On April 14, 1951, Dean married Beverly BRADY. They enjoyed 60 wonderful years together. This union brought four children. Dean was an active member of the Church of Christ and an elder for 36 years. He was loved by all for his quiet nature, strength, humor, laugh and smile. Dean will reside with us forever.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly; children: Kimberly (John) MARTINDALE of Indianola, Karole (Mike) TURNER of Pleasant Hill, Kent (Erin) HAYES of Clive; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, Kaye HAYES of Des Moines; plus a multitude of other family and friends. Roland was preceded in death by his son, Kevin HAYES.
