Max GILTNER

BATAVIA - Max A. GILTNER, 71, Batavia, died Thursday at Fairfield.

He was born April 25, 1915, the son of Bert and Anna WALKER GILTNER near Batavia and had spent his life in the Batavia and had spent his life in the Batavia and Bladensburg areas where he farmed. GILTNER was a member of Bladensburg Christian Church and the Lions Club at Batavia.

GILTNER married Helen GOBBLE; she preceded him in death. He married Marjorie SMITH Feb. 18, 1948. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Bert of Ottumwa and Bard of Batavia; a daughter, Marilyn MORRISON of Washington, D.C.; four grandchildren and a sister, Hazel REDDING of New Port Rickey, Fla.

Including his first wife, GILTNER was preceded in death by two daughters.

Funeral services are set for Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Bladensburg Christian Church with the Revs. David Albert and Carl Schewe officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery. Visitation will be held tonight from 7-8 at the Campbell Funeral Chapel at Batavia.

Memorials may be left to his church.

Admin. note: First wife Helen and two daughters, Martha and Margaret, died in a fire on January 20, 1945; they are also buried in Batavia Cemetery, Helen and Margaret in the New Part in Lot N69, Martha next to them in Lot N70. Max is buried with second wife Marjorie in the New Part, in Lot S180.
