Lloyd C. BALMER

Lloyd C. BALMER, 75, of rural Keosauqua, died at 7:10 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2014, at home.

A funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with Jason Mott officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).

Visitation opens at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the family present 6-8 p.m.

Memorials to Good Samaritan Hospice may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 19429 240th St. Keosauqua 52565.

Mr. BALMER was born Dec. 19, 1938, near Memphis, Mo., the son of Harry and Flossie KITTLE BALMER. He married Carolyn McCLARAN June 10, 1964, in Lancaster, Mo.

He graduated from Cantril High School.

He farmed, worked at Douds Stone, Inc. and Dexter Co. in Fairfield.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He enjoyed watching sports events.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Brenda McDOWELL of Birmingham and Kelly SCHMITTER and spouse Rob of Douds; two sons, John STUTZMAN in Arizona and Chris BALMER and spouse Nikki of Keosauqua; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Helen BALMER of Keosauqua.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Eric McDOWELL.
