"EMIL PORTMAN DIES IN WISCONSIN. WAS FORMER RESIDENT OF THIS COMMUNITY.

Emil Portman was born in Escholzmatt, Luzern county, Switzerland April 5, 1891 and died at St. Vincents hospital in Green Bay Wisc. on Thursday, June 30 at 12:30 A.M. at the age of 36 years, 2 months and 25 days.

He was united in marriage to Miss Emma Stalder in the year of 1916. He came to America in the year 1910 where he settled in Wisconsin, coming to Iowa in 1915. He stayed in this vicinity about five years and then with his wife moved back to Wisconsin, locating on a farm. Two years ago they moved to Iron Mountain, Mich. where he was employed in a Ford plant. The past two months he was employed in street work with a construction company.

About three weeks ago he suffered an overheat and was confined to his home. Two weeks ago he was taken to the hospital in Green Bay where in spite of the best of medical skill, he passed away.

He leaves to mourn, his loving wife, four brothers and three sisters who reside in Switzerland and a host of friends and relatives who will remember him as a cheerful companion, a loyal friend and an upright honorable man.

Funral services were held at St. Joseph's church at East Pleasant Plain, Iowa, on July 5th, 1927 at 9:00 o'clock A. M. conducted by Rev. Gaffney of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery."
