CLARKE Rites Wednesday

Charles W. CLARKE, 82, former Fairfield resident, died Saturday in Santa Ana, Calif. He had made his home in that city since leaving Fairfield in 1936.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Evergreen cemetery with the Rev. John R. Dilley officiating. The body will arrive tonight at the Weston Behner Funeral Home. Family members will greet friends there Tuesday evening from 7:30 to 9 o'clock.

CLARKE was born Sept. 22, 1891 in Fairfield the son of Charles D. and Etta MONTGOMERY CLARKE. He attended Parsons College and served as county agent of Davis and Appanoose Counties. He established the Clarke Hatchery in Fairfield in 1927.

He was a Mason, a Shriner, a member of the Rotary Club and the American Legion.

CLARKE is survived by his wife, the former Alma QUELLE, and three daughters: Mrs. Bird H. BISHOP, Baltimore, Md.; Mrs. Arthur R. HOOKER, North Tarrytown, N.Y.; and Mrs. Edward F. PENDERGAST, Indianapolis, Ind. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and two sisters: Mrs. Rex VOTE, Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Elmer WHITE, Oakland, Calif.

Californians Return Home

Mrs. Ernie Pegau of Tustin, Calif., and Mrs. Charles W. CLARK (sic) of Santa Ana, Calif., left today for their homes.

Mrs. Pegau, the former Ruth Moyer, accompanied Mrs. CLARKE here for the burial of her husband, who died Saturday, Oct. 6 in California.

Mrs. CLARKE, a former resident, was joined here by her three daughters, Mrs. Bird H. (Harriett) BISHOP of Baltimore, Md., Mrs. Arthur (Regine) HOOKER of North Tarrytown, N.Y., and Mrs. Edward F. (Sarah) PENDERGAST of Indianapolis, Ind. When the CLARKEs lived in Fairfield their home was at 600 S. Main.

Mrs. Pegau visited with her mother, Mrs. Ralph H. Moyer, 309 W. Broadway, while she was in Fairfield.
