JEFFERSON COUNTY HISTORY FOR QUARTER.

The first youth to die from Jefferson County in the service of his country was Earl HUMPHREY, son of James H. and Gertrude Chapman HUMPHREY, of Round Prairie Township. James HUMPHREY, the father, is a son of Mrs. Mary TILFORD HUMPHREY, whose death was noticed in our last summary; she was the daughter of James TILFORD, one of the earliest pioneers of the county. The mother was a daughter of George and Susannah CHAPMAN, whose two sons, Edwin and Winfield, served in the Civil War and both live at the present day. Funeral at Round Prairie Baptist Church. Remains laid in the Lambert (sic - Lambirth) cemetery."
