Clyde D. DIMMITT Jr.

Clyde D. DIMMITT Jr., 66, 609 W. Van Buren Ave., died at 11:08 a.m. Thursday, Marcy 7, 1996, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Behner Funeraly Home, with the Rev. George Koch officiating. Burial with military rites, will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established in his name.

DIMMITT was born July 20, 1929, in Fairfield, the son of Clyde and Eva MITCHELL DIMMITT. A lifelong resident of Fairfield, he graduated from Fairfield High School in 1947. On June 16, 1957, he married Ruby KELLER at her parents' home in Jefferson County. He worked as a sales clerk and manager for Western Auto for 31 years. He was an active bowler and the firs member inducted into the Fairfield Hall of Fame of Bowlers. He was a member of the Iowa National Guard for 21 years and an active member of the Fairfield Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball programs.

Surviving are his wife of Fairfield; three sons, Russell and Larry, both of Fairfield, Mark of Pflugerville, Texas; six grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanette FRANKLIN and Rose Ann DIMMMITT, both of Fairfield; and two brothers, Glen and Robert, both of Fairfield. His parents and two brothers, William and Lester, preceded him in death.
