Sylvia Cole Sampson, 90, of Bonaparte, died at 3:20 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2004, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Keosauqua United Methodist Church, with the Rev. ellis andrews officiating. Burial will be in Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington.

Visitation will open at 2 p.m. today at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua. Family will be present from 7-8 p.m.

Memorials to Greenglade Cemetery or American Cancer Society may be left at the funeral home of mailed to the family at 12548 Unicorn Ave., Stockport 52651.

Mrs. Sampson was born June 24, 1913, in Leon, the daughter of Elmer and Anna Hansen Boyd. She married Roy Cole and they divorced. She later married Gerald Sampson June 24, 1955, at Kahoka, Mo. He died May 20, 1995.

She was employed at Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, Barker Wire in Keosauqua, Universal Producing Company in Fairfield and the Bonaparte glove factory. Later, in Keosauqua, she was employed at Tharp's and the Brass Rail, and managed the VFW site; then owned and operated Town and Country Tavern in Cantril.

Survivors include seven sons, Virgil Cole of Keosauqua, Ralph Cole and Roy Cole of Montezuma, Richard Cole and LaVene Cole, both of Newton, Lloyd Cole of Santa Fe, N.M., and Harold Cole of Reardan, Wash.; one daughter, Vicki Sampson Lane of Stockport; three stepsons, Gerald "Bud" Sampson, Eddie Sampson and Michael Sampson; two stepdaughters, Anna Marie and Wanda; 41 grandchildren; 80 great-grandchildren; and 56 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers, Clyde Boyd, Ray Boyd, Harl Boyd, Francis Boyd, Gerald Boyd and infant twins, Lloyd and Floyd Boyd; two sisters, Ruby Shaw and Aletha Folker; one daughter, Arlene Gaskell; four granddaughters; and three grandsons.
