Charles H. SHUPPY, 78, of Traer, former area resident, died at 10:22 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 1996, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.
The service was at 1 p.m. today at Elliott Chapel in New London, with the Rev. Rod Cooper officiating. Burial, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7641 of New London, was in Lockridge Cemetery at Lockridge. A memorial has been established to the American Diabetes Association.
SHUPPY was born Feb. 14, 1918, in Jefferson County, the son of Frank and Essie HAISLEY SHUPPY. He graduated from Lockridge High School. On Sept. 30, 1939, he married Maxine Hughena LARMORE. She died Oct. 20, 1971.
He owned and operated Shuppy Insurance in New London for 25 years. He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of VFW Post 7641.
Surviving are three sons, Ronald of Wilton, Larry of Burnsville, Minn., Stephen of New Castle, Pa.; five grandchildren; and a sister, Berenice SHUPPY of Ottumwa. His parents preceded him in death.
