AGENCY - K. Harold McDOWELL, 78, of rural Agency, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1993, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Agency United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mary Shultz officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery. Open visitation begins at 9 a.m. Thursday with the family present from 7 to 8 that night at Campbell-Kremer Funeral Home in Batavia. A memorial has been established to Agency United Methodist Church.
McDOWELL was born Sept. 10, 1914, in Jefferson County to John and Evelina BRADSHAW McDOWELL. He was reared and educated in Jefferson County and lived in Jefferson and Wapello counties his entire life. He was employed by the Burlington Railroad for 38 years, retiring in 1974. He was a member of Brotherhood of Maintenance Way and an honorary member of the Chief Wapello Park Association.
Surviving are his wife; six daughters, Marcine BAXTER of Richland, Marjorie GILTNER, Geraldine ANDERSON, both of Ottumwa, Carolyn HANNAN of Mount Pleasant, Faye GREINER of Clarksville, Texas, Evelyn WELU of Davenport; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Grace PARKER of Douds, Ethel BOWER of Fairfield; four brothers, Edward and Harley, both of Ottumwa, Eugene of Agency and Ronald of Batavia. A brother, James, and a grandson preceded him in death.
