Agnes Viola Woodburn Steele
April 05, 2004Agnes Viola Woodburn Steele, 81, of Lockridge, died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, April 3, 2004, at her home.
Following family wishes, the casket will be closed. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Packwood Cemetery in Packwood, with the Rev. David Franker officiating. Burial will be at Packwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Packwood Community Center following the graveside services.
Friends may sign the register book for Mrs. Steele until 5 p.m. today at the Behner Funeral Home.
The family requests memorials to the Lockridge First Responders in lieu of flowers.
Mrs. Steele was born May 5, 1922, in Sedgwick, Colo., the daughter of Hugh and Ivas Case Woodburn. She married William Steele March 8, 1941, in Memphis, Mo.
She lived all her life in Jefferson County. After graduating from Fairfield High School, she received her teaching certificate from Parsons College.
She enjoyed her family and farming. She and her son, Terry Steele, worked together in the family hog confinement operation.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Gary Steele and wife Donna of Goldfield, Jerry Steele and wife Mary of Lockridge, Terry Steele and wife Kay of Fairfield; one daughter, Judy Mote of Mount Pleasant; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Margaret Bandilla of Carmichael, Calif., and Mabel Leedom of Ankeny.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Rex Steele; two sisters, Ivas Schmitter and Rose Dailey; and two brothers, Robert Woodburn and Sterling Woodburn.
