Velda Eileen HOLTHUS

Velda Eileen HOLTHUS, age 87, of Fairfield, died Wednesday morning March 12, 2014, at SunnyBrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.

Velda was born December 5, 1926, in Keswick, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Anna MOORE MIDDLEKAUFF. She marrled Delmer J. HOLTHUS on February 3, 1946 at the Methodist Church in Sigourney. He died October 4, 2002.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing and knitting.

She is survived by two sons, Douglas (Deb) HOLTHUS of Warsaw, Indiana and Brian HOLTHUS of Fairfield; four daughters, Nancy (Tom) KRAUSE of Sequin, Texas, Linda (Thomas C.) BAKER of Douds, Iowa, Christine WILLMON and Lisa HOLTHUS of Fairfield; eight grandchildren, Mic (Meghan) VAN DE VOORDE of Iowa City, Iowa, Ryan (Brittany) HOLTHUS of Fairfield, Faith HOLTHUS of Richland, Skyer WILLMON and Jarod WILLMON of Fairfield, Tony (Norma) BAKER of Fairfield, Laura (Thad) CRANE of Selma, Iowa and Steve (Caroline) BAKER of Fairfield; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother, Harlan MIDDLEKAUFF of Oskaloosa, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, William, Leonard and Gerald MIDDLEKAUFF; her twin sister, Zelda COLLINS; and one great-grandson, Eric Thomas BAKER.

Per Velda's wishes, the body has been cremated.

A Celebration of Life with the family will be at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield with Pastor Phil Campbell on Saturday, March 22 from 1 until 2 p.m. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Sorden Cemetery near Webster (note: in Keokuk Co., IA).

Arrangements are in the care of the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
