Freda N. HOAGLIN, 86, formerly of rural Hillsboro, died at 12:03 a.m. today, Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren in Keosauqua, where she had resided since December 2011.
Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Freda Pauline HOAGLIN, 86, of rural Hillsboro, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren in Keosauqua where she had resided the past two years.
A funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hillsboro Baptist Church, with Larry Shipley officiating. Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery (note: in Van Buren County, IA).
Visitation opens at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua with family present 5-7 p.m.
Memorials to Hillsboro Baptist Church, Hillsboro Fire Department or Hillsboro Public Library may be left at the funeral home, the church, or mailed to the family at 308 W. Monroe, Apt. 301, Mt. Pleasant 52641.
Mrs. HOAGLIN was born Jan. 10, 1928, in Farmington, the daughter of George and Lydia SCHAAD NEU. She married F. Leslie HOAGLIN March 3, 1957, in Farmington. He died Oct. 24, 1997.
She graduated as valedictorian in 1945 from Farmington High School and graduated summa cum laude with an English degree in 1953 from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant.
She was a longtime employee of the Mount Pleasant News before her marriage and then again for 20 years before retiring in 1997.
She was a member of the Hillsboro Baptist Church.
She was a 65-year member of P.E.O. Chapter AB in Bonaparte and also a member of the Hillsboro Alpha Club and Hillsboro Quilters.
Survivors include three daughters, Kathleen SCHWARTZ and spouse Paul of West Des Moines, Donna HOAGLIN of Mt. Pleasant and Karen HOAGLIN of Houston, Texas; one son, David HOAGLIN and spouse Tammy of Hillsboro, three granddaughters; and two sisters, Verna HENDERSON of Brookville, Pa., and Mildred JEFFERS of Farmington.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two siblings in infancy; two brothers, Robert and Herbert NEU; and one sister, Viola PROENNEKE.
