LIBERTYVILLE - Alva Donald WASSON, 73, of Libertyville, died at 10:12 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, 1996, at Jefferson County Hospital.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tony Pulatie officiating. Burial will be in Fell Cemetery at Libertyville. Family visitation will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Libertyville First Responders or to his family.
WASSON was born March 4, 1922, in Pleasant Grove, the son of Guy Frederick and Nettie Margaret TOFT WASSON. On April 12, 1949, he married Mary Delle MADDIX in Kahoka, Mo. A resident of the Libertyville community since 1949, he farmed in his early years and was a self-employed truck driver before retiring. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He currently had a small woodworking business as a hobby. He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Pleasant Grove.
Surviving are his wife of Libertyville; two daughters, Deborah TILL of Richland, Sondra Dee PHILIPS of Eldon; a son, Donald Lee of Libertyville; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters, Gladys VAN TUYL of Mount Pleasant, Lois MARTIN of Danville; and a brother, Kenneth of Iowa City. His parents and two brothers, Albert and Lloyd, preceded him in death.
