Marcelene M. WATSON, 86, of Hillsboro, died at 6:37 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at Parkplace Care Center in Mt. Pleasant.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home.

Marcelene M. WATSON

Marcelene M. WATSON, 86, of Hillsboro, died Monday Feb. 3, 2014, at Parkplace Long Term Care Center in Mt. Pleasant.

A funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Jason Mott officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Cemetery northeast of Stockport.

Memorials to Spencer Cemetery or Hillsboro EMS may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at PO Box 1251, Hillsboro 52630.

Mrs. WATSON was born March 10, 1927, near Denmark, the daughter of August and Florence MILLER HORN. She married Melvin L. WATSON Aug. 5, 1944, in Stockport Christian Church. He died Feb. 12, 1997.

She graduated from Stockport High School and lived most of her life in the Stockport and Hillsboro areas.

She was a farm homemaker.

She worked at Stockport senior meal site and had been a longtime member of the Stockport American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include four daughters, Linda CARTER and spouse Gene of Hillsboro, Marcia SWARTOUT and spouse Roger of Danville, Ind., Susan SWARTOUT and spouse Karl of Mooresville, Ind., and Deborah JURY and spouse Kevin DENLY of Farmington; one son, Wayne WATSON and spouse Jan WARD of Stockport; 14 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Arlene KIRK of Elk, Wash.; and one brother, Donald HORN of Escondido, Calif.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, brad WATSON; two sisters, Lois JOHNSON and Marian BOESE; and three brothers, Edward, Harlan and Jerry HORN.
