Lisa Diane GEVOCK

Lisa Diane GEVOCK, 39, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

A funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Dunn's Funeral Home in Des Moines. A private burial will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in East Pleasant Plain.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Family also will greet friends for one hour prior to the service Wednesday.

The family is inviting anyone who wishes to come to St. Joseph Church basement in East Pleasant Plain after the 11 a.m. Saturday graveside service to meet with the family. A light luncheon will be served.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to a charity of the donor's choice. Ms. GEVOCK supported Iowa Homeless Youth and Alzheimer's Association.

Gould Funeral Home in Brighton is assisting the family with local services.

Ms. GEVOCK was born Aug. 27, 1974, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Joseph and Gail HIX GEVOCK.

She grew up in Peoria, Ill., and Des Moines, before returning to Cedar Rapids and graduating from Jefferson High School.

She received her degree in psychology and family services from the University of Northern Iowa.

She was employed with Principal Financial group in Des Moines in the Specialty Benefits IT Department.

She played, worked, loved and laughed with equal enthusiasm.

She loved reading and was a music and movie buff, able to recite song lyrics and movie dialog on demand.

She had a big network of friends and family, with whom she enjoyed her favorite pastime of socializing and good conversation.

Survivors include her parents of Swisher; and two sisters, Laura CARDER and spouse Jeff of Bastrop, Texas, and Linda CRISPIN and spouse Jim of West Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
