“OBITUARY. Mrs. Elizabeth Metz, wife of Jacob Metz, died in Glasgow, Iowa, June 24th, in the seventy-seventh year of her age. Elizabeth McCormick was born in Stark County, Ohio, October 6th, 1817, and was married January 29th, 1835. With her husband she removed to Indiana in 1842, to Illinois in 1852, and to Jefferson County in 1855. Mrs. Metz was the mother of nine children, five of whom are now living, S.J. and Finis reside in Round Prairie township, S.A., J.M. and a daughter, Anna J., in Jewell County, Kansas. The eldest son Franklin, was killed at the battle of Fort Donelson, in 1862; William died in infancy; Sarah A. passed away at Mankato, Kansas, and Mary Hammans died at Afton, this state. Mrs. Metz united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church in Carroll County, Ind., in 1843…..Funeral services, conducted by Rev. J. Lee, were held at Mt. Zion church June 26th…..”
