Albert Carl Schindler
March 12, 2004Albert Carl Schindler, 88, of 602 E. Washington Ave., died at 10 p.m. Thursday, March 11, 2004, at Jefferson County Hospital.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mark Brase officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oak Brook Terrace, Ill.
Family visitation will be held from 1:30-2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Mr. Schindler was born April 10, 1915, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Joseph and Anna Nemecek Schindler. He married Sylvia Micka June 18, 1938, in Berwyn, Ill.
Mr. Schindler graduated from Sterling Morton High School with the class of 1933. He started work as a mechanic and studied nights at Illinois Institute of Technology. After graduating, he was employed as a draftsman at Victor Gasket Corp. He retired after 35 years of service, then started his own business from home doing drafting contracts.
He lived in Elmhurst, Ill., for 30 years. He and his wife moved to Fairfield in 1987.
He was a gardener and fisherman.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Richard Schindler and wife June of Fairfield; one daughter, Joyce Schindler of Fairfield; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister.
