Richard Shane Franklin, 41, of Keosauqua died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at home.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Connie Markle officiating. Cremation will follow the service.

Visitation opened at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, where family will be present from 7-8 p.m.

Memorials to the family may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at PO Box 41, Keosauqua 52565.

Mr. Franklin was born March 18, 1962, in Keosauqua, the son of Richard "Dick" and Nancy King Franklin.

He has worked as a logger with his father and did repair work on boats, autos and small engines when his heath permitted. He enjoyed spending time on the river in his boat, fishing, camping and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his parents of Selma; his wife, Michelle; two sons, Michael Shane Crable and Spencer Droz; two daughters, Jessica and Jennifer Droz; one grandson; two brothers, Kenneth Franklin of Fort Madison and Danny Franklin of Keosauqua; two sisters, Teresa Ball of Memphis, Mo., and Christie Franklin of Keosauqua.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Guida Franklin and Alvastine King Canaday.
