Mrs. Mary E. McCLEARY, 74, died suddenly Thursday at 3 p.m. at Maplewood Manor in Keota where she had made her home for two and a half years.
Mrs. McCLEARY spent most of her life in the Fairfield and Libertyville communities. Last rites will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne L. Bartruff officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. McCLEARY was born June 3, 1899 at Douds, the daughter of Albert and Susan WINTERS TWEEDY. She was married to Lewis McCLEARY Dec. 28, 1917. He died Sept. 10, 1964.
Mr. and Mrs. McCLEARY operated the first licensed nursing home in Jefferson County at 304 N. Main St., now the location of the Bethany Home.
Mrs. McCLEARY was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Rebekah Lodge and White Shrine. She was a charter member of the Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Robert B. CHARFIELD (sic - CHATFIELD), Glenwood, Minn.; Mrs. Leonard W. CURTIS, Fairfield, Route 3; and Mrs. Clyde L. DAVIS, Fairfield Route 4. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 23 grandchildren and one brother, Harold L. TWEEDY, Fort Madison.
Two sisters and three brothers preceded her in death.
