Vera WILLHOIT

Vera WILLHOIT, 95, formerly of Batavia, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at Manor House Care Center in Sigourney.

A funeral is at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with the Rev. Harlan "Frosty" VanVoorst officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery.

Visitation opens at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family will be present one hour prior to Wednesday's service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Autism Society.

Mrs. WILLHOIT was born Aug. 20, 1918, in Dow City, the daughter of Russell and Helen Josephine BLAKELY BENTLEY. She married Max WILLHOIT April 13, 1941 in Ames. He died Dec. 11, 2008.

She had been an employee of Hickory House/Edd the Florist.

She was a member of Prairie View United Methodist Church.

She had been a member of Arbor Vitae Chapter No. 327 Order of Eastern Star in Batavia and Batavia TTT.

She had also been involved in PTA and served as a 4-H leader.

Survivors include one daughter, Janice MILLHOUSER of Mansfield, Texas; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Allan BENTLEY of Ames.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Larry WILLHOIT and two sisters, Doris COUSIN and Donna ARMBURG.
