Ruth Belle Rauscher, 86, of Lockridge died Sunday morning, Feb. 29, 2004, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Augustana Lutheran Church in Lockridge, with the Rev. David Franker officiating. Burial will be in Glasgow Cemetery.

Family visitation will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lockridge First Responders, Glasgow Cemetery or First Augustana Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Rauscher was born Aug. 2, 1917, in New London, the daughter of Leslie and Grace Burnett Bower. She married Walter C. Rauscher April 18, 1942, in Fort Madison. He died Nov. 4, 1984.

Mrs. Rauscher was a 1935 graduate of Fairfield High School. She attended Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant for two years.

She lived all of her life in the Glasgow and Lockridge communities. She was a teacher in the Jefferson County Rural School System.

She was a craft exhibitor at Old Threshers Reunion in Mount Pleasant for more than 25 years.

Mrs. Rauscher was a member of First Augustana Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two sons, Fred Rauscher and wife Joyce of Lockridge and Bill Rauscher and wife Cindy, also of Lockridge; two daughters, Christine Rauscher of Barrington, Ill., and Mary Rauscher of Iowa City; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Howard Wayne Bower.
