The Fairfield Ledger, Jan 23, 1901, p.3, col. 4. DEATH OF MRS. PREWITT. Mrs Nancy Cameron Prewitt was born in White County IL, Feb. 10, 1821. She came to Van Buren County with her parents in 1836 and ten years later was married to Anthony Prewitt who died Feb. 9, 1864. She was the mother of four children, two of whom are now living; Rev. AM Prewitt at Downey CA and Will S Prewitt in this city. She also reared four children by a former marriage of her husband, to whom she was all that a mother should be and two of them, Goldson and James of Kansas City, were present at her funeral. Mrs. Prewitt had been a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church since childhood. Her remains will be interred at Evergreen Cemetery. Rev. H O Spelman had charge of the funeral services.
Mrs. Prewitt was a daughter of James Rutledge of New Salem IL.
