Marvin A. WELLS

Marvin A. WELLS, 83, of Monroe, Wis., died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at University Hospital in Madison, Wis.

A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Monroe, Wis., with the Rev. Pat Soddy and the Rev. Randy Booth officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church or Behring Senior Center. Condolences may be sent to the family at shriner111.com

Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home in Monroe, Wis., is assisting the family.

Mr. WELLS was born Dec. 31, 1929, in Fairfield, the son of Esmond and Evangie COLLIER WELLS. He and Carol CROSS were married March 24, 1957, in Fairfield.

Mr. WELLS graduated from Stockport High School in Stockport and Parsons College in Fairfield, with a bachelor of science degree in business.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from January 1951 to December 1954.

Mr. WELLS was a salesman in the agriculture field for 23 years and later worked at Pick N' Save for 17.5 years.

He was a member of United Methodist Church of Monroe, VFW Post 3999 in Flora, Ill., American Legion Zilmer Riley Post 84; and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and dancing.

Survivors include his wife of Monroe, Wis.; two sons: Kurt of Argyle, Wis., and Kevin and spouse Chris of Monroe, Wis.; two grandchildren; four brothers: Donald of St. Louis, Mo., Charlie of Sun City West, Ariz., Larry of Des Moines and David of Fairfield; two sisters: Pauline KAPLAN of Tucson, Ariz., and Esther SCHWERIN of Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: James, Andy and Henry in infancy.
