Virginia Muriel DULIN GARDNER

Virginia Muriel DULIN GARDNER, 86, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013.

A celebration of life is at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Fairfield.

Visitation with family begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Fairfield.

Cards and memorials may be sent to 935 Applewood Court No. 4, Coralville 52241.

Arrangements are in the care of Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Mrs. GARDNER was born Oct. 22, 1926, at home northeast of Selma, the daughter of James E. and Cleo HANSHAW DULIN. She married Melvin Thomas "Bud" GARDNER Jan. 19, 1947. He died in 1998.

She attended school at Selma where she graduated in 1944.

She was employed as a riveter at the B-29 factory near Omaha, Neb., during World War II.

She returned to Ottumwa and worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company as an operator.

She was baptized in December 1975 at First Baptist Church of Fairfield where she faithfully served throughout her life.

She enjoyed being with family and friends.

She was an avid reader and bird watcher and enjoyed being outdoors.

Survivors include four children: Debra Kay GARDNER of Cedar Rapids, LuAnn FRISCH of Coralville, Mark Alan GARDNER and spouse Louise of Colona, Ill., and James Dale GARDNER of Moline, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Marvel, one brother, Richard, and two infant brothers; and one grandson.
