James L. BOWER

James L. BOWER, 80, of rural Lockridge, died at 1:10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 1992, at Valley Lutheran Hospital in Mesa, Ariz.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Knox Bullock officiating. Burial will be in Glasgow Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials to the Bible Missionary Church or the Glasgow Cemetery Association may be left at the funeral home.

BOWER was born May 1, 1911, in Jefferson County, the son of John L. and Martha BILLINGSLEY BOWER. A lifetime resident of the Glasgow community, he graduated from Lockridge High School and was a member of Bible Missionary Church in Mount Pleasant. He farmed all of his adult life before retiring. He married Mildred G. JOHNSTON on June 2, 1934, in Fairfield. She died Dec. 9, 1988. He married Ethel SMITH on Sept. 15, 1990, in Fairfield. She survives.

Also surviving are a son, Ron of Fairfield; a daughter, Donna MOYERS of Bowling Green, Ohio; a stepson, Pearl SMITH of Fairfield; a stepdaughter, Darlene KING of Bouder, Colo.; four grandchildren; seven grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren. A brother, Carl and a sister, Margaret BOWER, preceded him in death.

Admin. note: James' second wife, Ethel, was a McDOWELL before marriage; her first husband was Seldon SMITH. Ethel and Seldon are buried in Evergreen Cemetery. James is buried with his first wife Mildred.
