Jerry PLOWMAN, 75, of Douds, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2013.
A graveside service is at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Leando Cemetery, with the Rev. Phil Campbell officiating. He is an organ donor.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Van Buren Community School Foundation or toward a livestock wash rack to be installed at the Van Buren County Fairgrounds to be used by the 4-H members.
Memorials can be sent to 15718 Gold Ave., Douds 52551.
Mr. PLOWMAN was born June 30, 1938, the son of Kermit and Dorothy SHIRK PLOWMAN. He married Martha GARDNER April 3, 1960.
He lived near Douds and graduated from Douds High School in 1955.
He farmed his entire life.
He was active in Van Buren County Farm Board, Farm Bureau and had been a member of the county cattleman's association and a former 4-H leader.
He served on the board of the Van Buren Community School Foundation and Leando Cemetery Board.
In the last years, he and his wife enjoyed several cruises with friends and had spent the last couple of winters in Arizona.
Survivors include wife, Martha; one son, Richard PLOWMAN and spouse Lisa of Douds; two daughters, Susan LOVE and spouse Troy of Cedar Falls and Michelle EILANDER and spouse Darrin of Ankeny; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
