Andrew 'Andy' VELDHUIZEN

Andrew "Andy" VELDHUIZEN, 29, of 2696 Hwy 34 E. and formerly of Ottumwa died September 14, 2013 at the Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

He was born January 7, 1984 in Oskaloosa, IA to Brian and Sharon HARSIN VELDHUIZEN.

A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 2002, he attended Indian Hills Comm. College. He worked in plumbing while in California and in Ottumwa. For the last five years he worked at the Ollie Quarry for Douds Stone.

He enjoyed fishing, Frisbee golf and cooking. He enjoyed his customers at work and spending time with his family and friends, especially his dogs, Deebo and Stella.

Surviving are his mother and step-father, Sharon and Bob ALIG of Ottumwa; his father and step-mother, Brian and Cindy VELDHUIZEN of Fairfield; a brother, Adam VELDHUIZEN of Hiawatha; a step-brother, Brandin LANGE and step-sister, Amanda LANGE both of Fairfield; his grandparents, Carol DeGEEST of Oskaloosa and Lee and Frances VELDHUIZEN of Oskaloosa and his longtime girlfriend, Nikole MOORE of Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Max HARSIN.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with Pastor Art Sathoff officiating. Cremation will follow the service.

Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heartland Humane Society, P.O. box 1149 Ottumwa, IA 52501.
