Nola O'Detta Ruggles
February 20, 2004Nola O'Detta Ruggles, 94, of Washington, Iowa, died Thursday evening, Feb. 19, 2004, at the Washington Care Center.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, Mo., with her son, the Rev. Roger Ruggles, officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Cemetery in Graysville, Mo.
Public visitation will be one hour before the service in the funeral home chapel.
Mrs. Ruggles was born Oct. 31, 1909, in the Mapleton (Button Ridge) community, the daughter of Neil M. "Hogg" and Maggie Chloe Suiter Hogue. She married Pearl Virgil Ruggles Dec. 21, 1932. He died Aug. 12, 1985.
She and her husband moved to Washington in March 1937, later living on farms near West Branch, Wellman, Brighton and Richland. In 1954 they bought a farm northeast of Fairfield where they lived until October 1969, when they moved to Kirksville. She lived in Kirksville until 1998 when she became a resident of Washington Care Center, where she resided until her death.
Survivors include one daughter, Chloe Ann Andeway of Richland; one son, Roger Ellison Ruggles of Marquette Heights, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather Enos Robbins; one grandchild; and one great-great-grandchild.
