John Patrick 'Jack' McMAHON

Jack McMAHON was born September 6, 1925 in the steel mill community of Monessen, Pennsylvania. He passed away at his home on August 19, 2013.

During World War II he served as a gunnery instructor in the Army Air Corps.

Jack attended Texas A & I University and The Ohio State University. Even though he attended Ohio State, he was a dedicated Hawkeye and Fighting Irish fan.

September 13th, 1952 he married Rose LEAHY at St. Sebastian's church in Akron, Ohio.

Jack and Rose celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last year at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield.

In 1960, he and Rose moved the family to Ralston, Nebraska where he founded Holiday Industries and manufactured pop-up campers.

His entrepreneurial efforts found him moving the family to Indianola, Iowa and finally to Fairfield.

It was 1981, while in Fairfield, that he founded the Barker Company Ltd with nine employees. Under his leadership, the company grew to more than 300 employees before handing the keys over to his sons.

While successful in business, he always considered his family to be his greatest achievement.

An avid outdoorsman, Jack enjoyed everything outdoors; especially hunting and fishing. His love of fishing, in particular, led him and Rose to spend parts of 26 winters at South Padre Island, Texas.

Jack was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Fairfield Golf and Country Club, the Walton Club and the Elks.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ethel McMAHON and by his brothers, Tom and Regis McMAHON.

He is survived by his wife Rose; his sisters Roseann CAMPBELL and Regina WELSCH; his daughter Peg BISTAS and her children Michael and John; his son Pat (Barb) and their children Dan (Mia), Tim and Molly, his son Mike (Kat) and his sons Grant (Taylor), Zach and Tyler ZABORNY, their son Tom (Clarisa) and their children Megan and Matthew, his son Tim (Jane) and their children Connor, Kyle and Abby and by his great-grandchildren Lila and Grace.
