Carrie TEAL dies

OTTUMWA - Carrie W. TEAL, 98, Ottumwa, former Fairfield resident, died at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at her home.

Services were held Monday afternoon at Robertson-Jay Funeral Home in Ottumwa with the Rev. Charles Markham officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery at Fairfield. A memorial has been established to First Presbyterian Church in Ottumwa, of which she was a member.

Mrs. TEAL was born Feb. 27, 1889 in Fairfield, the daughter of Isaac and Laura LANG WISECARVER. A teacher and businesswoman, she graduated from Fairfield High School, and from Parsons College in 1910. She married Don L. TEAL on June 14, 1916 in Fairfield. He died in 1974.

She served as chairwoman of the Canteen for the American Red Cross during World War I. She was a member of Mizpah Circle of Kings Daughters, a 50-year member of Order of Eastern Star 112, a 50-year member and past president of Social Order of Beauceant No. 9, a longtime YWCA board member and a member of Ottumwa Women's Club.
