Last Rites Held For Former Walnut Resident

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Jefferson for Ben VOSS, 67 year old Jefferson county resident. He died suddenly Thursday afternoon at Fairfield, Iowa, the victim of a heart attack.

Services were held at the Hoskins Funeral Home with Dr. E. A. Piper, chaplain of the American Legion post, in charge. Burial was at the McCleary cemetery with military services.

Mr. VOSS was born near Walnut on Nov. 27, 1888, the son of Christian and Anna VOSS. He was a veteran of World War I. He left the Walnut vicinity 10 or 12 years ago and moved to the Jefferson community.

He is survived by two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Rudolph SIEVERS and Charlie VOSS of Walnut, Emil VOSS of Atlantic, and Mrs. Lena RETHWISCH of Portland, Ore., and also a number of nieces and nephews.

Admin. note: His obituary gives a birth month of November, however this conflicts with his gravestone (which shows October) and the 1900 census (which also shows October).
