Mable PEQUIGNOT dies

Mable S. PEQUIGNOT, 80, last member of a pioneer Jefferson County family, died Sunday at 6:15 p.m. at Parkview Care Center following an extended illness. She had been a resident of the center since 1973.

Services will be Wednesday, 2 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home. Last rites will be conducted by the Rev. Charles Kincaid with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. PEQUIGNOT was a lifetime resident of Jefferson County. She was born March 10, 1889 southeast of Fairfield, the daughter of Marvin and Minnie GLEASON HUMPHREYS.

She was married to Percy NORTHCUTT Dec. 31, 1920. In 1947 she was married to Ned PEQUIGNOT who preceded her in death Jan. 6, 1968. A rural school teacher for many years, she also served as the first head cook at Fairfield High School. She was a member of the First Christian Church.

Surviving are four daughters: Barbara PAXSON, Santa Rosa, Calif.; Doris BROCKROGGE, Silvis, Ill.; Jacqueline SINGER, Stockport; and Evaughn HOOTMAN, El Paso, Tex. Thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.

Four sisters, one brother and two stepchildren are deceased.
