February 04, 2004Dove Winslow, 97, of Mount Pleasant, formerly of Stockport, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.
The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Mike Renken officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. No family visitation is planned.
Memorials have been established for the Arbor Court Activity Fund.
Mrs. Winslow was born Oct. 29, 1906, northeast of Stockport, the daughter of Bryant and Nina Shelman Dow. She married Eugene Winslow Jan. 21, 1933, in Winterset. He died Jan. 27, 1989.
She graduated from Stockport High School in 1925, and graduated from Fort Madison Business College. She worked for the International Harvester Company for several years in both its Chicago and Des Moines offices. The couple lived in Stockport for 18 years before moving to Davenport and then Kirksville, Mo. She assisted her husband in his osteopathic medicine practice at Stockport. Her pastimes included reading, crocheting and knitting.
She was a member of the Stockport United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and an honorary alumni of Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Survivors include several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Miles Dow.
