Viola Maxine Lynn, 82, of rural Brighton, died Friday evening, Jan. 30, 2004, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a brief illness.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hope Lutheran Church in Germanville, with the Rev. Robert Patton officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton.

Visitation will immediately precede the funeral from 1-2 p.m. at the church.

Memorials to Hope Lutheran Church or to the donor's choice may be left at the church or mailed to the family at 1013 Walnut Ave., Brighton 52540.

Gould Funeral Home of Brighton is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lynn was born March 7, 1921, east of Brighton, the daughter of John D. and Adelia Fichtner Lynn.

Mrs. Lynn attended Springs Creek country school and graduated from from Brighton High School in 1938. She worked at The Dexter Company for one year, the McCleery-Cumming Company in Washington from 1962-1966, and cared for her parents and her sister Goldie.

She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and Women of Life where she helped sew mission quilts.

Survivors include four nephews, two locally, Ronald Taglauer of Fairfield and John Lynn of Brighton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Goldie Lynn, Mildred Taglauer and Opal Loeffler; and two brothers, Donald Lynn and Harold Lynn.
