Joseph R. "Joe" ROCK, 91, formerly of Packwood, died at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.
The funeral is set for 10:30 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, with Rev. Leila Disburg officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Sunday, with the family present from 5-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Willard Street United Methodist Church in Ottumwa.
Mr. ROCK was born Jan. 21, 1922, in Centerville, the son of Jack and Tereza KAUZLARICK ROCK. He married Frances JEMISON July 4, 1947. She died Aug. 15, 1994.
Mr. ROCK was a graduate of Centerville High School and a World War II Veteran serving in the U. S. Army Air Corps. He worked as office manager for John Morrell & Co. in Ottumwa and in Memphis, Tenn., retiring in August 1988.
He was a member of Willard Street United Methodist Church and O.B. Nelson Post No. 3 American Legion. He enjoyed dancing and gardening.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty Jo BUTTERBAUGH and husband LaVerne of Boone; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Frank KAUZLARICH, William ROCK, Matthew ROCK and Stephen ROCK; and three sisters, Mary HOLBROOK, Katie FISHER and Helen ARCHIBALD.
