RETHERFORD Dies At 87

BATAVIA - William A. RETHERFORD, 87, died Sunday at 9:30 p.m. in the Jefferson County hospital. He had been seriously ill for the past two months.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield with Rev. Kermit Black in charge. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery. There will be visitation at the Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Memorials are to the Heart Fund.

RETERFORD (sic) spent his entire life in the Libertyville and Batavia communities. He was section foreman of the Rock Island railroad for over 50 years; a member of the Baptist church and Modern Woodman lodge.

he was born November 17, 1889 in Mercer, Mo., the son of Lewis and Lucy OVERTON RETHERFORD. On May 9, 1915 he was married to Gertrude KUEHN at Cambridge, Neb., and she survives as does three daughters: Mrs. Eathel BROBSTON, Fairfield; Mrs. Stephen BERNDT, Batavia and Mrs. Mildred PEREZ, Cedar Rapids; one sister, Mrs. Elta BOLLM, Mercer, Mo.

He also leaves 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grand-children. He was preceded by two sons, two brothers and one sister.
